Todd Eisworth

Post  eisworth on Thu Jan 01, 2009 5:46 pm

Hi. I'm Todd Eisworth. I'm a math professor at Ohio University, and I've known Doug for almost 20 years now --- we went to graduate school together, and I also worked at the University of Northern Iowa for four years with him. I love to read, but that's taken a bit of a backseat this past year because I recently became a father for the first time at the age of 40.
I run the Honors program in mathematics at my university, and I teach at every level from introductory calculus to supervising Ph.D. students. Researchwise, I'm a set-theorist, but no one ever knows what that means and they are often sorry when they ask...

You know, Todd, your post here - and specifically your statement that you're a set theorist - reminds me that I have something I need to read by Doug. He's written some amusing things featuring mathematicians in the role of gentleman spy (sort of) and I've been sitting on a very big PDF file of a novel he wrote for a long time now. Maybe I'll read that early this year.

Doug... any objections?

Regardless, I am happy to have you join us, Dr. Eisworth, and I congratulate you on your new(ish) addition. May you and yours be happy, healthy, and well read!

Cheers!
