4. Born on a Blue Day (Daniel Tammet)

Post  Ren on Sun Nov 29, 2009 2:58 am

I am inclined to read books about people with varied life experiences. This book is written by a man who is an Autism Savant. He has, characteristically, the ability to see numbers as shapes and colors... and can learn things in specific areas, e.g. languages very quickly. In the book, Daniel relays his life experiences and provides a window to a world we often can only imagine as we view it from the outside. When working with children with ASD, I have often pondered the thought of having the opportunity to spend just five minutes or so in the mind of said child, so that I might be better able to assist him/her in the learning process and provide more appropriate instruction.
