4. Cartoon Introduction to Economics vol. 1: Microeconomics

by Grady Klein and Yoram Bauman.

This is a winner. Bauman, famous as a standup-economist (example here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVp8UGjECt4 ) condenses the basics of microeconomics while also mentioning the work of many economists who have won the Nobel Prize. He is particularly good in explaining sunk costs, why taxes on sellers and taxes on buyers are equivalent, and in introducing game theory (and the Prisoner's Dilemma). He really only gets bogged down when he talks about Elasticity, but even there he mentioned something that I think I can use this semester when I talk about elasticity in Business Calc. The illustrations and gags work well together; all in all, this is highly recommended. I look forward to volume 2.
