16. The Squirrel Machine by Hans Rickheit
This was a graphic novel. Emphasis on graphic. It's the story/flashback of a pair of brothers who don't fit in, largely because they spend their free time making large musical contraptions out of dead animals. The 'squirrel machine' is never realized...I'm not sure anything is ever realized. It's a tragic story that never attempts to make any sense. The characters are somehow engaging and the artwork is very good.
Not recommended, because I couldn't make heads or tails (no pun intended) of it.
