3. The Road by Cormac McCarthy

This book was described to me as "a father and son are walking along a road after some kind of disaster turns the world into a wasteland". That description left me thinking "wow, that sounds, uhm.... I'm sure it's a really good book, but I have something else to read right now". After being urged to read it a few more times, I finally gave in and started it.

It really is just about a father and son walking along a road through a wasteland. However, it's about their survival and it's really intense. I ended up reading it very quickly just because I really wanted to find out what happened. There are some flashbacks that give you a little better idea of what their characters are like. I thought it was a great book and I'll definitely give the movie a chance when I can rent it.
