21. The World Without Us by Alan Weisman

A very depressing book. Basically, it attempts to answer the questions: "If humans vanished from the Earth, what would the world do? For how long would evidence of us remain?"

There are some accomplishments that will survive as long as the planet is expected to (Refined uranium, for example.) Other things would vanish with surprising rapidity. (Some houses wouldn't last 50 years.) The whole thing is pretty much a giant bummer. A brilliant, well-researched bummer. Lots of problems, very few solutions, and not much hope.
