14. What The Dog Saw by Malcolm Gladwell

This is a collection of Gladwell's New Yorker articles, ranging over a period of between ten and fifteen years. I didn't find all of them interesting, but several were standouts: an interesting article on how hard it is to detect breast cancer from pictures and how that ties into the Iraq War, an article on how criminal profiling seems to be pseudoscience, a very interesting article on how the pill may have affected cancer rates (but not in the way you might be thinking) and how that connects to the Catholic scientist who created the pill.

I would say the ones that did not hold my interest were probably about things I had already read about elsewhere, perhaps because Gladwell reported on them in the first place. Gladwell has a very smooth way of connecting the disparate topics his articles deal with seamlessly. This is worth picking up and flipping through.
