19. Proofiness by Charles Seife

I zoomed through this one in two days. It's a book about the misuse of mathematics and statistics by advertisers and politicians. There are lots of quotable quotes -- a bad graph that Quaker Oats used to try to sell their cereal, the "real" solution to the Bush/Gore election (and the Coleman/Franken senate race election). But two chapters are quite depressing; the one on gerrymandering, and the one on some arguments of Supreme Court Justice Scalia. The chapters are outrage-ous, but no solutions are given.

This is highly recommended if you like this sort of thing.
